ich liebe den herbst wirklich, so wie ich inzwischen jede jahreszeit liebe. jeder tag ein geschenk. und jetzt, in den dunkleren tagen, freu ich mich besonders auf kerzen, tee und schnee und ein paar klirrend kalte tage.

Paulson “Between Worlds”

Paulson is as much storyteller as musician and some of these songs get rather prosaic at times. And if most storytelling musicians write short stories, I think some of these go to novella lengths, with Arlo Guthrie mastering the epic novel to stretch my comparison further. The music is strong enough, so you feel the melody and song throughout, which is a fine skill that Paulson and his band have. The overall tone reminds me of Perry Leopold, although it is not quite that ‘out there’. Instead, this offers a comfort of sorts and plenty of stories and thoughts to consider.

falls ihr’s nicht verstehen solltet, es steht etwa drin, dass ich musiker und geschichtenerzähler gleichzeitig sei, dass die texte auf worlds gelegentlich epischen ausmaßes seien, dass die musik und die band aber stark genug sind, die nachdenklichen worte zu tragen.

vielleicht denkt ihr an weihnachten ja mal wieder an das hübsche rote paulson-album, damit der kleinefeine kreis von liebhabern meiner bescheidenen kunst noch ein wenig weiterwächst.
